VMS SaaS for video surveillance

A VMS SaaS delivers camera management software as a service: you connect the cameras you already own and the platform handles recording, alerts and artificial intelligence — on a subscription, with no server to buy. Xeqmate is a Brazilian-built VMS SaaS that runs in the cloud or on-premise.

What is a VMS SaaS?

VMS SaaS is a Video Management System delivered as a service over the internet. Instead of installing surveillance software on your own server and paying a perpetual license, the operation reaches the platform through a browser or app and pays a monthly subscription per camera and per module. The vendor runs the infrastructure, the updates and the artificial intelligence.

In practice, a VMS SaaS pulls into one place what used to be scattered across DVRs, local software and spreadsheets: live view, recording, alerts, AI analytics, users and permissions. Xeqmate follows that model — with one important difference: besides the cloud, the same platform runs on-premise recording servers, for operations that must keep video inside their own infrastructure. The detailed comparison is in VMS, VSaaS and VMS SaaS: what is the difference?.

Architecture

How a VMS SaaS works in practice

From the camera to the alert on the operator screen, with no hardware swap.

1. Connect what you already have

IP cameras, DVRs and NVRs of any brand join the platform over RTSP, RTMP or P2P. No hardware swap, and no server to install in the cloud model.

2. The platform processes

License plate recognition, facial recognition and video analytics run on the server — in the cloud or on your own infrastructure. Any compatible camera gets AI.

3. Your team operates

Video walls, an event center, real-time alerts and searchable recordings, with per-user permissions and a complete audit trail.

A complete platform

What Xeqmate bundles into one subscription

More than 12 modules integrated under the same license — each with its own page explaining how it works.

Multi-tenant

Managing accounts, users and permissions

A real VMS SaaS has to be multi-tenant: many accounts, each seeing only what belongs to it.

Accounts and per-account modules

The administrator registers each account and enables modules one by one — LPR for one, facial and front desk for another. Camera groups and pre-registration links organise who sees what.

Users, roles and permissions

Each user reaches only the sites, cameras and modules the administrator releases, with predefined roles and two-factor authentication (2FA) available.

Complete audit trail

Queries, alerts, administrative actions and even API calls are logged — the operation knows who saw what, and when.

Integrator billing

Cycle usage per account, invoice forecast, contractual minimum and Excel export — the foundation for reselling monitoring as a service.

Infrastructure

Cloud, on-premise — or both

SaaS does not have to mean "cloud only". At Xeqmate, cloud and local recording servers live side by side on the same platform.

  • Cloud: no server to buy or maintain; the first cameras go live during the demo itself. Details on cloud VMS.
  • On-premise: video is recorded and processed on a server inside your own infrastructure, with the same interface and the same modules — a fit for large camera counts or internal data policies.
  • Hybrid: cloud and on-premise cameras in the same dashboard, billed separately by recording server type.

The full decision guide is in the article On-premise or cloud VMS: how to choose.

Security and privacy

Video is sensitive data — a SaaS has to treat it that way

  • Privacy by design: lawful basis, purpose limitation, transparency and data-subject rights were part of the platform design, following GDPR, LGPD and CCPA principles.
  • Permission-based access: each user sees only what the administrator releases.
  • Audit trail: queries, alerts, actions and API calls are all logged.
  • Retention under your control: you decide how long footage and reads stay available.
  • Two-factor authentication: 2FA available for users, with active-session management.

FAQ

Questions about VMS SaaS

Yes. Xeqmate is a VMS platform delivered as a service (SaaS): a monthly subscription per camera and per module, reached through a browser and mobile apps, with no perpetual license. Besides the cloud, the platform also runs on-premise recording servers.

The terms overlap: VSaaS (Video Surveillance as a Service) is the category of video surveillance delivered as a service; VMS SaaS stresses that the product is a full VMS (video management, users, recording, AI) in the SaaS model. We explain the differences in detail on the VSaaS page.

No. Xeqmate connects to the IP cameras, DVRs and NVRs you already own, of any brand, over RTSP, RTMP or P2P. The AI runs on the platform server, so no special cameras are needed.

In the cloud model, the camera needs a connection to send video. For operations that require local recording, Xeqmate offers on-premise servers: video is recorded and processed inside your own infrastructure, and the platform stays the same.

At Xeqmate it is a monthly subscription sized by camera count (resolution × retention days) and by the modules contracted, with a monthly minimum. No perpetual license, and no mandatory server investment.

Yes, fully: your own domain, logos, colours, contacts, app store links, watermark and custom legal terms. See the white-label VMS page.

Yes. The external REST API uses a per-account token and covers cameras, recordings, plate and face reads and user management, with documented pagination and rate limits. Details on the API page.

Since there is no server to install in the cloud model, the first cameras are connected during the demo itself — you see your own footage in the platform before deciding.
